How is Malaysia's cottage industry doing? Often it's a source of innovation. So how can we grow it?

As you travel around around Europe, you will find charming products being sold at various high-street shops and department stores packaged very nicely and sold in limited numbers. Many of these products are made by very niche enterprises. Some are known brand names, others less known. These enterprises occasionally operate in certain rural parts of the country and are often run by individuals or families and passed down through the generations.

The situation in Malaysia seems a little different. Whilst we do have our own cottage industry, we very seldom find their products in the high street stores. The packaging and the consistency of these products are also lacking something.

The real question is how do we grow this industry in Malaysia?
